As mentioned previously, the city had been considering an ordinance to ensure conversion developers notify lower-income tenants about displacement assistance or they would be fined. Last week the council unanimously passed the ordinance. Developers or landlords who fail to provide notice will be fined $100-a-day for every day they violate the ordinance. [...]

While the State seems unable to agree on a conversion bill, the Seattle City Council is taking baby steps to assist low-income tenants. Update Oct 2007: Max Condominium has ceased sales and will revert back to apartments.
The Max Condominium (website) public grand opening was this past weekend at 8520 Evanston Ave N, just north of the Evanston. A condo conversion, the property was built in 1999 as the Maxville Apartments and designed by Weber + Thompson.
