Another Condo project

Posted on October 19 2006

Another condo project is proposed for the Lower Queen Anne / Denny area. The 123+ unit project is planned for John & Aurora (the parking lot behind Starbucks on Denny Way) and it’ll sit right above the Denny Way off ramp.

In the next few years, this area will go through considerable change. This is the same block where the new Hyatt Place Hotel and condo project is being proposed at the Greg’s Japanese Auto site. And, across the street from Greg’s is the planned 30+ story 600 Wall Street project. Just a block from the 600 Wall Street site, where Teatro Zinzanni is located, the land use sign recently went up for two 32-story condo towers.

While I support the townhome activity that is taking care of some of the neighborhood blight north and south of downtown, can anyone agree with me that the condo saturation has gone way too far. The downtown is heading towards a Chicago lifestyle…which sucks big time. Don’t agree? Talk to me in 10 years…

[...] Last week I wrote that a couple of condo projects are proposed for the block where Greg’s Japanese Auto & Starbucks are. Just one block to the West, next to Bank of America, yet another project is being proposed. This one will be at the corner of Denny Way & Taylor Street, 6-stories with 139 units including live/work lofts. That’ 5 projects in within 5 blocks of each other. [...]
